What is Coaching? 

The official definition, according to the International Coach Federation (ICF) is “Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and. creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

To me, coaching is a cross between mentor, teacher, student (of you and your life!), cheerleader, muse and accountability partner. A good coach fills the space needed for the client to find their own answers while challenging the client to heights they maybe did not even know exist. Coaching is not about judging or making decisions for you, it is about creating a safe place for you to explore your own ideas, feelings, and experiences. A sexual addiction recovery coach will be trained in all aspects of sexual addiction from supporting the addict through recovery, betrayal trauma and it’s symptoms as well as how to support the re-establishment of a healthy, loving relationship between the couple. 

Is Coaching a Good Fit for Me?

Not everyone is actually coachable. A good coaching candidate is first of all someone willing to be authentic and transparent. Coaching may be a good fit for you if you are in this space:

Have a genuine desire for change.
Have a vision for the life you want and have goals you are willing to work towards.
Are willing to be brave and tackle some really difficult questions and topics to make the change needed to reach your goals.
Are committed to working on YOUR recovery, not just trying to change your spouse.

Are willing to be open minded for suggestions on how to achieve real, long lasting change and willing to implement those changes in your life.
